Hit the hay/sack

Go to bed (informally). 

ORIGIN
There are two theories this idiom may originated from. The first one is based on the practise of stuffing mattresses, pillows and  comforters with hay or straw. The other one is related to sleeping in haystacks while resting during strenuous farm work.

WORDS
to stuff: to completely fill a space or container with something. 
strenuous: requiring a lot of energy.
