Conditional Sentences

There are three basic types of conditional sentences in English.

1. A condition which can be fulfilled: the main sentence is in the future tense and subordinate sentence in the present tense.

If it doesn’t rain, we will go for a walk.
I will go on vacation  if I make some money.

2. A condition which cannot be fulfilled: the main sentence is in the conditional and subordinate sentence in the past tense.

If they didn’t buy so many things, they would have more money.
If  he went by car, he would get there earlier.

3. A condition in the past and which cannot be fulfilled: the main sentence is in the past conditional and subordinate sentence in the past perfect.

If she had studied more, she would have had better results.
If they had helped us, we would have finished it earlier.

Note:
Don’t use coma if the if clause is at the end of the sentence.
