ASSISTANT REFEREE (LINESMAN): an officcial who is at touchlines and who advises the referee.
AWAY GAME: When the team has to travel to play the match at another team’s stadium.
BOOKING: To be awarded a yellow card.
BOOT: to kick.
CONCEDE the goal: when a goalkeeper allows a goal to be scored.
CORNER KICK: a kick from one of the corners of the pitch.
DEAD BALL: when ball is not moving. All free and penalty kicks must be taken from a dead ball.
DEFENDER: a player who stops the other team from scoring a goal.
DRAW: when the both teams scored the same number of goals (0:0, 1:1, 2:2, etc.).
EQUALIZER: a goal that makes the score equal.
EXTRA TIME: two additional 15 minutes periods after the match has ended in a draw in order to decide the winner.
FOUL: an illegal action taken by one of the players against his opponent.
HAND BALL: an offense by playing by hand.
HEADER: hitting the ball with the head.
LOCKER ROOM: A room for the team palyers to change into their uniforms.
MIDFIELDER: a player who stays mostle in the middle of the pitch.
PASS: to send the ball to another player from own team.
PENALTY: a free kick from the penalty spot
PROMOTION: when a team won its category and will play in a higher category in the next season.
RED CARD: punishment which sends the player off the pitch.
RELEGATION: the opposite of promotion and a team playing in lower category in the next season.
STANDS: the place where the spectators sit in the stadium.
STOPPAGE TIME: a period of time added to the end of each half of a football game to compensate for time lost in that half.
STRIKER (Forward): a player who scores the goals.
SUBSTITUTE: a player who replaces another player
THROW IN: to throw the ball in after it has crossed one of the touchlines
TOUCHLINE: the lines along both sides of the pitch
WALL: a barrier made of players to block a free kick
