Morin khuur is a bowed stringed instrument considered a symbol of the Mongol people.

The Mongolian name of the instrument means a fiddle with a horse’s head in English.

The instrument has two strings which are made from hairs of a horse’s tail.

Nowadays the tail hairs are replaced by nylon which lasts longer.

Words
bowed: curved, bent.
tail: the rear end part of the body of an animal.
