The holiday goes by different names: Remembrance Day in Commonwealth countries, Armistice Day in France and Belgium, Veteran’s Day in the United States.
In Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom, people wear poppies in the period before and during Remembrance Day.
World War I formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
The first Remembrance Day was in 1919.
