Hikikomori is a condition when an individual refuses physically to leave his or her parents’ house for a period over six months.

They do not go to school, work or maintain friendships

There are several cases when reclusive people have been in isolation for couple of years.

South Korea will provide young recluses with a monthly living allowance to persuade them to go out of their homes.

WORDS
to maintain friendships = to have friends.
reclusive: living alone.
recluse: a person who lives alone.
