Philip Mulryne, a 43-year-old former football star,  was ordained a Catholic priest a few years ago.

He was forced into hanging up his boots because of an injury.

He made 600.000€  a year, but he did not like the trappings of a footballer’s life.

The Northern Ireland player has found a new meaning in joining the Church.

WORDS
priest: a man who performs religious duties in the Christian Church.
priest in other languages
trappings: all the things that belong to a particular job, event, etc.

IDIOMS
to hang up one’s boots: to stop playing a sport, especially football.
