A watched pot never boils

If someone waits for something to happen it seems to take longer time.

Origin
There will be absolutely no effect on time for a pot to boil when one is watching it. The proverb is used to say that time seems to slow down when you are waiting  for something to happen desperately. The phrase was first published in report by Benjamin Franklin in 1785.
