However impossible it may seem cows, known for their calm and gentle behaviour, can kill people.

A 67-year-old woman was killed by a herd of cows while hiking in pastureland in the Austrian Alps on Sunday.

Her 65-year-old husband was seriously injured.

The reason why the aggressive herd charged at the couple is unknown.

Sadly, this is not a rare incident of the animals attacking people in the Alps.
