Bury the hatchet

To become friends again after an argument. To end the disagreement.

ORIGIN
The legend has it that two Indian leaders convinced five tribes, the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga and Seneca to stop fighting. To celebrate the peace they buried their weapons under a tree.
