The term “cucumber season” is used in many European countries to describe the summer months when not a lot of business activity takes place.
This is especially true in the months of July and August, a time when many workers go on holiday and students are on summer break.
In some countries this period is referred to as “silly season” because of the unusual stories that appear in newspapers during this time.
