Jared Leisek is a scuba diver who started removing debris from his Oregon waterways in 2018.
He cleaned up to two thousand pounds of debris in just three months.
He started recruiting more divers and posting videos of the dives to his YouTube channel, Adventures With Purpose, which has more than 2 million subscribers.
In 2019, there came a turning point when families of missing people took notice of the group’s activity and approached them for help.
Since then Leisek and his group have pulled out up to 20 missing people and submerged cars, some of them going missing 10 years ago.
As a rule, the group never charges families and funds its work from donations and YouTube revenues.
