Slovakia, (the former Czechoslovakia) is a small and landlocked country in Central Europe with a population of five million people.
The former socialist country which is now a member of the EU is well known for its landscape, many castles and abundant natural water springs.
In 2018 it drew attention of world media to the murder of two young people who were found shot dead in their home.
,Jan Kuciak, 27 was a journalist investigating alleged political corruption in the usage of European Funds linked to Italian mafia.
The death sparked mass protests over the country calling for the government to step down.
