The Amish is a religious group of Christian people sharing the same beliefs that settled in Pennsylvania, the USA.

They live a traditional way of life similar to those of previous centuries.

Hard work on farms is valued, horse-drawn buggies are used for transportation, latest technology is avoided and these are only a few examples the Amish people favour.

Men must grow beards to promote their manhood. On the other hand they must not have mustaches as these are affiliated with the military.

Women are not allowed to wear jewelry including wedding rings and all their clothing must be sewn by hand.

WORDS
buggy: a light carriage pulled by one horse.
to sew (sewed, sewn or sewed): to put pieces of clothing together using thread and needle.
