There was a moment of peace during the Christmas time in the violent World War I in 1914.

British and German soldiers came out of their trenches
and met in no man’s land to play a football match, exchange Christmas gifts and swap prisoners.

The ceasefire lasted for two days.

WORDS
truce: an agreement to stop fighting for a period of time.
trench: a hole in the ground used by soldiers to hide away from a enemy’s attack.
to swap: to exchange for thing for another.
