The men and boys still take the tradition of pouring water and whipping girls and women seriously in Central Europe.

The tradition is meant to symbolize health, strength and youth for women in the upcoming season.

Though not all women appreciate being drenched in ice cold water, nowadays also perfume is used instead of the water, they reward the men with dyed hard-boiled eggs, coins and a ribbon tied to their whip.

WORDS
to douse: to pour a lot of water over something.
to whip: to hit whit a whip.
to drench: to make something very wet.
to dye: to change a color.
