Couples who celebrate the happiest day of their lives in Venice, Italy will have to do so without rice from now on.

Rice at a wedding is believed to bring good luck to a couple and its children.

However, the mayor of Venice would like to lower the number of pigeons living in the city. The pigeons feed on the rice.

There are 40,000 pigeons living in historic center of the city.
