After the revolutions of 1989, western candies and soft drinks –
such as Mars and Pepsi – sold very well in several Eastern European countries.
These days, however, there has been a resurgence in the brands which were once popular before 1989.
Krowka caramels in Poland, Tibi chocolate in Hungary and Bon Pari fruit candies in the Czech Republic are all making a comeback.
Kofola, a soft drink first produced in the early sixties in Czechoslovakia, before it split into Slovakia and the Czech Republic, today sells more bottles or cans than the rival Coca-Cola in Slovakia.
